Is Dust Part of the Decor?

I have been told so many times that I have too many "things" out and it is a lot to dust.  What do they mean dust?  I thought dust was part of the decor of any home?  I am shocked; have I been wrong for a long time?

Dusting is a good example of the futility of trying to put things right. As soon as you dust, the fact of your next dusting has already been established.

Cleanliness is next to impossible. ~Author Unknown

Just to share a few thoughts that I am not alone.  Michael is a perfectionist and I am sooooooooo far away from that.  After my Daddy died my Mom moved in with us and she is a perfectionist too.  Both together just about drives me insane.   They care about useless things that takes time for what???  Who cares.

Don't get me wrong I have my house cleaned, not always dusted like it should be but the kitchen, living room and bathroom are clean.

Here is my problem.  I bought my house April 15, 2005.  I was so anal that nothing could be dirty, everything had to shine.  I have all hardwood floors which had to be spotless and shining at all times.  All I was concerned about was my clean house.

On June 8, 2005 my only child my son was killed in a car accident.  All I could think of was the time I spent cleaning the house instead of spending time with him.  Since then things like cleaning doesn't seem to be as important.

The thing is with Michael and Mom the house will always be presentable but it is not my main goal in life.

I have to admit that when everything is shining I love it and it feels so good.  A clean house means there is still work to do tomorrow.

  1. First, I want to give you a {{{{hug}}}} for your son~! My daughter Donna lost her little son at 41 weeks preg due to a knot in his umbilical cord. You never truly get over your child's death. But, saying that, I think you have made the right decision in wanting to live life instead of just 'dusting' the dead cells from out of your house! Sounds like you are keeping a reasonable house to me!!! I also want to live life, and enjoy my family, instead of worrying about some dust particles. I do dust when I notice it piling up!~ LOL You Go Girl!!! ♥♥♥
